The Seattle Times' Opinion on "Public Forum" Student Papers

"But we say again it is a risky thing to give legal control of a high-school newspaper to students."

Seattle Times Editorial

Why did we create this blog?

We made this blog to share information we thought parents (and community members) in Dexter would like to have.
  • Take the polls
  • click the links to the original documents
  • post any comments or questions
As you read, here are some questions to ask yourself:

Is this appropriate material for the entire student population at DHS, not just the upperclassmen? (as required by the U.S. Supreme Court)

Does the content violate the bylaws of the Dexter Community Schools?

Do you want your children reading the paper as it is currently being published when they are in high school? If not, why not?

Please feel free to send a link to any friends or neighbors. Tell them how you feel.

The links to the original newspaper run slowly sometimes, but eventually they do show up. I can't post entire articles here, but please follow the links and feel free to browse the papers online.
